Matcha Sesame Balls

INGREDIENTS:

Lotus Paste:

  • 2/3 cup dried lotus seeds (soaked)
  • 1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 tbsp Ty Ling Sesame Oil
  • 2 tsp honey

Dough:

  • 1/3 cup wheat starch
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp Ty Ling Sesame Oil

Frying:

  • 6-8 cups vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS:

1. Make the Lotus Paste:
  • Soak the lotus seeds, cook until soft, then blend into a smooth paste.
  • In a pan, heat Ty Ling Sesame Oil, add paste, sugar, and honey, and cook until thickened. Cool in the fridge.
2. Make the Dough:
    • Mix wheat starch, glutinous rice flour, and matcha powder.
    • Add Ty Ling Sesame Oil and water to form a soft dough. Let rest for 30 minutes.
    3. Assemble the Balls:
      • Roll dough into balls, flatten a piece of lotus paste and wrap it in the dough. Coat with sesame seeds.
      4. Fry:
        • Heat vegetable oil and fry the sesame balls until golden and crispy (about 3-4 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
        5. Serve:
          • Enjoy these warm, crispy delights fresh out of the oil!
